Texas Instruments UA78M33CDCY Linear Voltage Regulator, 5.3-25V In, 3.3V/0.5A,
Texas Instruments 3.3V, 500mA fixed linear voltage regulator. 5.3-25V input, SOT-223 package with full thermal & short-circuit protection.
The Texas Instruments UA78M33CDCY is a fixed-voltage, integrated-circuit linear voltage regulator engineered for reliable performance across a broad spectrum of commercial and industrial applications. It is specifically designed to deliver stable, on-card regulation, effectively eliminating noise and mitigating the distribution challenges commonly associated with single-point regulation systems. This compact, surface-mount device is capable of supplying a consistent 3.3V output with a current of up to 500mA, making it an ideal power management solution for modern electronics.
A key strength of this regulator lies in its comprehensive suite of built-in protection features. It incorporates internal current-limiting and thermal-shutdown circuitry, which provide robust immunity against overload conditions, short circuits, and excessive power dissipation. This ensures the device and the downstream circuitry are safeguarded from damage. Furthermore, the output transistor includes safe-area compensation, enhancing its durability under varying load conditions. As a green product, it is manufactured without antimony or brominated flame retardants (No Sb/Br).
Primary Features & Applications
While its primary function is as a fixed 3.3V regulator requiring no external components, its versatility extends further. The UA78M33CDCY can be used with external components to create adjustable output voltages and currents, or serve as the power-pass element within more complex, precision regulator circuits. This flexibility makes it a fundamental building block in power supply design.
Its typical applications are vast, including:
- Power regulation in portable consumer devices.
- On-board voltage regulation for computers and computer peripherals.
- Power management within communications and networking equipment.
