Texas Instruments SN75176BP Differential Bus Transceiver DIP8
Texas Instruments SN75176BP differential bus transceiver for RS422/RS485. 10Mbps, 32 nodes, 5V supply. Ideal for industrial and telecom applications.
The Texas Instruments SN75176BP is a robust differential bus transceiver engineered for reliable bidirectional data communication over multipoint bus transmission lines. Designed to operate on balanced transmission lines, it complies with ANSI standards TIA/EIA-422-B and TIA/EIA-485-A, as well as ITU recommendations V.11 and X.27. This device integrates a 3-state differential line driver and a differential input line receiver, both powered from a single 5V supply, ensuring straightforward integration into existing systems.
The driver features an active-high enable, while the receiver uses an active-low enable; these can be externally connected to create a direction control function, simplifying half-duplex communication. With a wide positive and negative input/output bus voltage range, this transceiver supports up to 32 nodes on a bus and offers a maximum data rate of 10 Mbps. It is well-suited for long bus lines in electrically noisy environments, thanks to its ±60mA driver output capability, thermal shutdown protection, driver current limiting, and a minimum receiver input impedance of 12kΩ. Additionally, the receiver offers ±200mV input sensitivity with 50mV typical hysteresis, ensuring stable operation even with signal degradation.
This 8-pin PDIP package transceiver operates over a temperature range from 0°C to 70°C and delivers all essential performance characteristics for industrial and telecom applications. Whether used in sensor interfaces, motor control systems, or telecom infrastructure, the SN75176BP provides a dependable solution for balanced multipoint communication.
