Designed as a low dropout positive regulator, it features a typical dropout voltage of 1.3V and a maximum dropout of 5V at 3A of load current, ensuring efficient performance even when the input voltage is close to the output voltage.
The regulator features the same pin-out as industry standard adjustable regulators. While adjustable versions require two external resistors to set the output voltage, this fixed 5V version conveniently integrates the adjust resistors internally, simplifying circuit design and reducing the overall component count.
