StarTech PCIe x4 Mobile Rack Adaptor for M.2 NVMe SSDs
StarTech PCIe x4 mobile rack adaptor for M.2 NVMe SSDs. Toolless drive tray with lock, vented stainless-steel frame and thermal pads.
The StarTech PCIe x4 Mobile Rack Adaptor converts a PCI Express x4 expansion slot into a removable drive bay for M.2 NVMe SSDs, allowing storage drives to be swapped without opening the computer case.
Overview
The adaptor is designed for toolless operation and includes a dedicated drive tray. Install an M.2 NVMe SSD into the tray, then slide the assembly into the adaptor's bay for a quick and secure connection. The tray supports M-Key M.2 drives in the 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 sizes.
Key Features and Security
The drive tray includes a latching mechanism that can be secured with an optional lock, with two keys supplied. A power and activity LED indicator on the tray shows drive status.
Thermal Management and Construction
The chassis is constructed from a vented stainless-steel frame to promote airflow. The drive tray is fitted with thermal pads that transfer heat away from the SSD, and anti-vibration springs reduce mechanical stress during installation and operation.
Compatibility and Installation
The adaptor is compatible with PCI Express 4.0 and 3.0 standards and requires no additional drivers. It is designed for use in PCIe x4, x8 or x16 slots. A low-profile bracket is included for compact systems. This product is specifically for M.2 NVMe (or AHCI) SSDs.
