Mikroelektronika MIKROE-55 2x16 character LCD module with blue backlight, parallel 8-bit interface and HD44780 controller. 5 V DC, 80 x 36 mm.
The Mikroelektronika MIKROE-55 LCD Module is a 2 x 16 character alphanumeric display with a blue backlight, designed for showing data in electronic projects.
Overview
The MIKROE-55 is built around an integrated LSI controller that contains two 8-bit registers: an instruction register (IR) and a data register (DR). The IR stores instruction codes, such as display clear and cursor shift commands, along with address information for the display data RAM (DDRAM) and character generator RAM (CGRAM). It can only be written to by the MPU (microprocessor unit).
The data register (DR) acts as a temporary buffer for information written to or read from the DDRAM or CGRAM. The register selector (RS) signal allows the MPU to select between these two registers for communication.
