Hinged Hasp & Staple
A robust steel hinged hasp and staple with concealed pins for securing doors, chests, and cupboards. Ideal for corner solutions.
A hinged hasp and staple is a classic and effective security solution for doors, gates, chests, and cupboards. This simple design consists of a hinged plate that folds over a fixed staple, allowing a padlock to be fitted through the staple's eye to secure the closure. The device is typically constructed from durable steel for resilience against forced entry attempts, with a hardened staple that resists cutting and leverage.
Installation & Design
Most models are designed for surface mounting with pre-drilled holes for easy screw or bolt fixing. Concealed hinge pins and screw heads are common features that enhance security by making tampering more difficult. The design is straightforward, allowing for quick installation and operation, making it a popular choice for securing sheds, toolboxes, outbuildings, and storage cabinets.
Material & Build
The primary material is often robust steel, which may be finished with zinc plating or powder coating for corrosion protection. A hardened steel staple provides an extra layer of security, as it is much more challenging to cut or break. This makes the unit suitable for use in both indoor and protected outdoor environments where weather exposure is a factor.
Applications
This hardware is versatile and well-suited for a wide range of applications where basic, reliable security is required. It is particularly useful for corner solutions, such as on chests or cupboards, and can accommodate doors or lids that do not close completely flush, as the hasp bridges the gap effectively.
