The Adastra Digital Messaging Unit is a 1U rack-mountable device designed for automated, scheduled audio playback in commercial and public environments. It provides background music, timed announcements, and audio alerts, all managed from a central system.

Overview

Audio content is stored on a removable SD card. Files can be pre-loaded by inserting the card into a PC, or recorded directly onto the unit using the integrated microphone/line input. Schedules are saved as a separate file on the same SD media and can be edited using the included PC software. Different audio and schedule combinations can be stored on separate SD cards and swapped as required to create weekly routines.

Key Features

The mic/line input supports direct recording and live announcements, which can override scheduled SD playback for immediate paging. A dedicated BGM (Background Music) line input is provided with its own level control. This input is automatically muted when scheduled messages or live paging are active, helping to keep announcements clear.

The unit supports up to 99 audio tracks and 99 programmable schedule events. Each event can trigger a specific audio file based on a 24-hour clock and selected days of the week.

Connectivity and Power

The DM-8 connects to existing sound systems via a balanced terminal or unbalanced RCA outputs, providing a mono audio feed. It accepts 100-240V AC or 24V DC power and includes +20V phantom power, switchable via DIP switches, for compatible microphones.
